*where & when...we are happy to announce that we are now meeting at our new building at 100 Old Tpk. Rd. (Rte. 4) in Nottingham, approx. 5 miles east of the Northwood Elementary School on the right. We start every Sunday morning at 10:30.

We know that visiting any church for the first time and entering unfamiliar territory can be a little uncomfortable and intimidating...but we are confident that if you just show up and be yourself you’ll have a great experience at Higher Ground Baptist Church. Here’s some info about us

*a little background info...Higher Ground Baptist Church was started by our pastor George Jackman. Please visit the Meet the Pastor section to check his story out. Pastor George and his lovely wife Sherry who are originally from Mass. moved to Northwood from Port Charlotte, Fla. With their then 3 (now 5) dedicated children when George was ordained and heeded the Lord’s calling to return to New England and plant a church. They began holding services right in their home in late 2006, and when we quickly outgrew the Jackman kitchen we were blessed with the opportunity to meet at the local elementary school which we facilitated for about a year. We are now in our own building and God is moving mightily through Higher Ground. Our church fellowship is made up of ordinary people from all walks of life who understand the need to continually rely on God to get through our daily lives. *what to expect on Sunday...real... passionate...fun... different...accepting...laid back... true...All-out, God-focused worship ...powerful preaching and sound doctrine.

*what to wear...we’re laid back. Wear whatever you want. All we ask is that you be modest. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable and welcome just as you are, so if you connect with God more easily in your blue jeans then slap on your Levis...if a suit and tie helps you to prepare for worship then go for it. Our focus is not on who wears what here but whether people are connecting with God and with their neighbors. Just come as you are.

*the Absolutes at HGBC...

God...God is the creator of everything, knows everything, and has power over everything. He knows your good stuff and bad stuff and still loves you more than you can imagine.

Jesus...He came, He died, and was brought back to life so we can be reconnected to the father. When we believe in Him, we have the perfect friend, and are totally accepted. He gives us life now and forever.

The Holy Spirit...The Holy Spirit is God’s actual Spirit who lives in us when we believe in Jesus. He gives us power and spiritual gifts.

The Bible...The Bible is the word of God, and men were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write it.

Friend…the Christian faith is, if anything, a discovery of who God is, who we are, and how we can have the relationship with God that we were designed to have. And faith is not a one-time discovery, but rather a lifetime of gaining understanding. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, there are plenty of ways to go deeper and grow at Higher Ground Baptist Church.
